Neuflect

Hacking mirror neurons to boost outcomes.

Personal trainers, physical therapists, and other movement professionals often struggle to help their clients learn new ways to move their bodies.

The most common reason is due to people’s natural sense of proprioception, or the position of one’s body in space. What feels right is what we’re used to. But whether we’re in physical therapy or learning a new movement, we can’t rely on the same feelings if we’re to achieve different outcomes.

People need to see themselves better.

When training in person, mirrors can’t provide many of the views that clients need to see in order to help achieve proper alignment. When training remotely, movement professionals can only see a single point of view on their clients—often a poor one—and so aren’t able to provide helpful feedback and adjustments.

So what happened?

Ben co-founded Neuflect, Inc. in January of 2020 to help solve these problems, and more. Working with co-founders Nathan Towry as CEO, and Michael Mathison as COO, we interviewed dozens of trainers, athletes, and physical therapy patients to understand their core challenges, and validate early application prototypes. From these discoveries, we validated our market, developed core product requirements, and raised our first seed round in 2021 to develop our MVP app.

Ben was responsible for designing the Neuflect brand identity, core application flows and interfaces, hiring and managing contract design and engineering resources, directing promotional videos, and working with product engineers to prioritize product backlogs and conduct QA.

Today, Nathan uses the iOS / Android app with his own clients, along with a select cohort of movement professionals, as he continues fundraising efforts for further development in preparation for taking the app to market.
